Megan Smith

Megan has a long history in the tourism industry, most recently serving as the Commissioner of Tourism for the State of Vermont. Working closely with the Vermont Ski Area Association, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and many local chambers, Megan oversaw all the marketing efforts for both Tourism and Economic Development. Prior to her appointment as Commissioner Megan and her husband, Greg, owned The Vermont Inn in Killington where she served as President of the Killington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the State Representative for the region.

Megan is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and began her career with Hyatt Hotels before joining Au Bon Pain then eventually moving to Vermont to follow her dream of owning a country inn.

Upon relocating to Chicago Megan has started a new career as Corporate Relations Manager for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society but has kept involved with the industry by hosting a podcast called “Inside Innkeeping” where she interviews innkeepers on current issues.
